Quaker Voices on Mental Health (QVoMH) is a Quaker Recognised Body. We are a national network of Quakers who have a concern for mental health and wellbeing. We want to see mental health services reformed in ways that are true to Quaker testimonies and grounded in experience and action. We believe this is central to our corporate Quaker witness.
The network offers safe opportunities for Friends to explore their own mental health, creativity and spirituality. Friends can safely explore issues relating to mental illness, mental health and wellbeing, guided by Quaker testimonies to equality and truth and informed by the legacy of William Tuke (founder of The Retreat, York).
This January we held a Quaker Voices on Mental Health Consultation Morning, when we met to to discern the way ahead for QVoMH. The Minute (here) makes for cheerful reading!
Now we are needing all Friends to share the Minute as widely as you possibly can, in your meetings and with anyone you know with an interest in mental health in 2026. So when you have read the Minute, we hope you will give some thought to how you will share it, and maybe help us to find a new Clerk.
"We can meet one another on kinder ground, in our personal relationships, meetings, wider communities, and on social media. We can help create listening spaces using our skills and resources. We can help create a climate where the pursuit of truth is not about becoming dug into our rigid positions".
