Activities during the 'Pause'

The ‘Pause’

From January 1st 2026 we have put in place an organised 'Pause'. We recognise the achievements of Quaker Voices on Mental Health since it became a Quaker Recognised Body two years ago. We now see ourselves at a point of transition. This ‘Pause’ is an opportunity to use our Quaker stillness to discern. We hope that during the ‘Pause’ Quaker Voices on Mental Health will find a worthwhile and sustainable way to transition into the future. There is a paper (here) that explains the background and maps a possible way forward.

At a consultation meeting held on 10 January 2026 QVoMH members endorsed the these plans. The minute of that meeting can be viewed here. More information about the 'Pause' is here.

Special Interest Groups

At the heart of QVoMH are the small Special Interest Groups (SIGs). These faciliatate a wide network of QVoMH members being involved through their specific mental health interests or concerns.

The QVoMH Steering Group is keen to grow these groups, as they can listen to and support so many aspects of life that affect mental health and wellbeing. See SIGs

'Welcome the Month' online worship

With Quaker Life, we are holding a once-a-month online worship session always on the first morning of each month at 7.30 – 8.00 am. Our 30 minutes together include a brief introduction, a short reading, and worship sharing.

If you would like to join, please do email clerk@quakervoicesonmh.org.uk for the link.

The QVoMH Book

The QVoMH book is written by Quakers for Quakers and is titled Quaker Voices on Mental Health. It brings before Friends the urgent need for a renewed focus on mental health within the work of Britain Yearly Meeting (BYM).

The twelve chapters, by Friends with different perspectives on mental health, aim to raise awareness within the Society about current mental health issues and their relevance to us as Quakers today. There is now guidance for study groups using the e-Book version. We hope the book will be a useful resource both for individuals and for Local Meetings.
